I was so sorry to learn of Jeff White's passing.
Even though Jeff lived not far from us here in San Diego, we had not seen him for several years and had no idea that he had been ill. Around the time of the 50th year class reunion, though, he joined us for drinks to reminisce about our time at Carroll. He was the same warm, congenial, and friendly guy he was back in high school—but now with a successful career behind him. He told us of going off to the University of Illinois after Carroll and earning two degrees, then of his move to Oakland where he worked for Kaiser. I think it was in the early '90s he moved to San Diego to work for a major shipbuilding company and then a biotech firm in human resources.
As successful as he was in his career, he told us how much he enjoyed retirement and the volunteer work he was involved with.
We had a delightful evening. He seemed very joyful, and his smile seemed to light up the room. We will miss him and send our sincerest condolences to his family and many friends.
