ACHS 60th Reunion

Here’s a quick recap of our 60th reunion events for those of you who couldn’t make it. Don’t miss the pictures on the left side of our website Archbishop Carroll High School Class of 1964, Washington, Dc, DC, or the news about future events below.

We held a 2 hour cash bar happy hour followed by a more formal dinner the next night.  Both events were at a hotel in the Largo, Md area.  The events were attended by about 20 people for the happy hour and 25 for the dinner.  We raised $3500 for Carroll. We invited 3 Carroll staff as our guests and had good discussions with them about what the current and future Carroll look like.

The President of Carroll, Larry Savoy (a Carroll 1993 alum) gave a great speech at our dinner.  He mentioned our own Bill Hawkins (who has kids and grandkids that attended Carroll and also inspired him to attend Carroll).  Needless to say, there were lots of stories told to catch each other up on what was going on in our lives.  Some of the stories were actually true.

The committee has changed a bit every 5 years.  This year the committee was lead by Joe Mundie and Paul Aloi with help from Michael Dennis, John Zurad, Bob Amato, Don Clarke, Mick Malley, and Jimmy Hynes. .

After the events we held a meeting to discuss what we want to do different for the next time.  We tentatively decided:

  • Smaller annual events will replace a formal 5 year reunion. Details are being worked out, but we’re thinking that we will have a simple yearly event at a restaurant – no pre-pay, just give us a heads up that you are planning on attending so we can get the right number of seats, show up and order what you want with individual checks.  We’ll probably have it mid-week in September around 2PM.   We also may have an event at one of Carroll’s sport events.
  • If anyone has any thoughts on this, post it here on the website, or contact one of the committee members.
  • The pictures are in the folder labeled “Reunion pictures” on our website.  That folder is on the left side of this web site.
